Less energy with better traffic optimization in big cities.
This is IOT (internet of things) competition project we did for Smartupcities and results was great. On few big startup competitions we got great results,one of them was
Main idea was how to optimize city service with fill-level sensors for waste containers and how to optimize transportation route for entire city traffic.
As designer i worked on forming idea and developing design for this smartupcity items.
Most recognized is fill-level sensor for waste containers and everything started with that.
FILL LEVEL SENSOR
This sensor monitor fill level in every city bin sending informations to garbage truck drivers so they can choose which container needs to be picked up first optimizing route for 40-60% wasting less energy and time. All this sensors placed in trash cans colect data of fill-level for making best optimized route and picking up trash containers with priority. System works over wirelesly conected devices to gateway Sensors and data collectors.
GATEWAY SENSOR BOX
This devices is designed to collect data from trash ,,fill-level‚‚ sensors and to monitor another parameters like city traffic, noice, CO2,… etc
Sensor is placed on traffic light and its equiped with sound and light indicators.
Sensor designed for every open parking spot or garage. Idea is to build map of free and ocupied parking places in town. Ower some GPS aplication wisitor/driver will be informed where is best location to find parking spot optimizing driving time and spend less gas.
Upgrading every lamp with smart sensor for energy saving.
SMARTUPCITIES MAIN STATION
This piece of art is designed for servicing all public spots of public transportation, parking garages, tourist informations, etc..
On this station you can find live data like:
- city transportation
- buy bus ticket
- pay for parking
- pay for electric vehicle charging (one main station supose to control all EV parking bollards on same street parking spots and one or two per garage floor/level). With this system it`s not needed to build charging station for every 2 or 4 parking spots. One main station can care for 20 or more EV parking spots. EV outlets on parking bollards are marked with number so be careful for what car you paying charging. 🙂

Main station is equipped with solar panels and windmill for self-recharging. Its also possible to charge cellphone over USB.
Station can collect same data like Gateway sensor box.
EV CHARGING BOLLARDS
We gave something smart to classis street bollard adding EV outlets on them and conecting them to main station.
EV bollard can care for 2-4 parking spots and outlets are marked with number. Every EV outlet on bollards is marked with number and on Main station you can pay parking and EV charging for number of your outlet and parking spot.
